Power Line Carrier (PLC) Controls - (Non-Current)

In addition to the Transceiver products that are currently available, Steffes manufactured several control devices designed to be used for load management purposes and to regulate operation of ETS systems and other electric circuits and devices. These controls were designed to regulate when the ETS equipment can charge and control when energy can be used by other devices such as electric baseboard heaters, in-floor electric cable, and electric water heaters. "Power Line Carrier" (PLC) communication is built into these controls which usually reduces the cost of installation of off-peak heating systems and provides great flexibility.

PLC Transceiver (XCVR1) was the first PLC device capable of acting as a PLC transmitting or receiving device and had two 30-amp relays to control non-ETS loads.

PLC Transmitter provides communication to Steffes ETS equipment for on-peak and off-peak operation and automatic (weather responsive) charge control.

PLC Mini Receivers provide remote control capability via communication from the PLC transmitter of standard electric circuits/appliances such as water heaters, electric baseboards, floor heat, hot tubs, etc.

Comfort Control Relay Panel (CCRP) regulates on-peak and off-peak operation of ETS systems and non-ETS loads such as electric baseboards, water heaters, ceiling cable, hot tubs, etc.

NOTE: PLC communication is very reliable in most applications but can be affected and hindered by connection method used, electrical layout of the application, operation of other equipment in the same electric system, dirty power, etc. Steffes does not guarantee effective communication of the PLC system in all applications and is not responsible for any communication issues outside normal operating malfunctions.
